Madi Dyke is a freelance movement artist specializing in contemporary dance, floor work, and dance theater. Madi is based in New York City, though she hails from Detroit, Michigan. She graduated from the Conservatory of Dance at SUNY Purchase with a BFA in Dance and a Concentration in Choreography. There, she also received a Bachelor’s in Arts Management. Madi received additional training from Rubberbandance, B12, Orsolina28, Hubbard Street Dance Chicago, and others. Growing up as a competition dancer at Michigan’s premier pre-professional studio and transitioning to a conservatory for college, Madi is well versed in both concert and commercial dance. She thrives in spaces where the two styles intersect and overlap, and it is her goal to blend and blur these lines together.
Madi is currently a performing artist with Accent Dance NYC where she performs works by Will Ervin Jr and Zaki A’Jani. Madi is also freelancing, collaborating, and presenting her own works in New York. She loves to create and choreograph, especially when it comes to partnering. While living in New York, Madi has also danced with Coredance Contemporary Dance Company under the artistic direction of Rebecca McCormac. Madi has performed the works of Chelsea Thedinga, Kristalyn Gill, Victor Quijada, Annie Rigney, Peter Chu, Martha Graham, Rena Butler, and others. Her performance credits include APAP at New York City Center, Peridance Presents Showcase, Steps Industry Showcase, Accent Dance Spring Show at Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater, The Mark O’Donnell Theater, and more. She has performed in New York, Michigan, Colorado, Washington D.C., Berlin, and more.
Whether it be creating, class, or rehearsal, Madi can be found in the studio. She grew up as a competition dancer, and though she studied concert dance in college, she continues to love jazz and street styles too. Outside of dance, Madison can be found tumbling, coaching Pilates, and exploring Brooklyn.
